New AI Technology Integration for Industry-University Cooperation
Abstract
Governance plays a crucial role in advancing Industry 4.0 technologies through fostering partnerships between industry and academia. This collaborative relationship significantly accelerates the development of artificial intelligence (AI) technology, enhances research quality, strengthens scientific and technical capabilities, and amplifies the impact of AI across various sectors. The primary objective of this research is to explore how the progression of AI technologies contributes to strengthening the bonds between industry and universities. By conducting a qualitative analysis of governance practices in technology development across different countries, this study delves deep into understanding the dynamics of this relationship. The findings reveal that AI plays a pivotal role in enhancing research capabilities, introducing innovative technologies, promoting collaboration, facilitating technology exchange, and driving innovation, competitive advantage, and sustainable progress in industries. Furthermore, the study highlights governance strategies related to AI within the industry-academia nexus, such as forming collaborative committees, initiating joint research projects, enabling technology transfer, and establishing shared platforms for education and research in AI and related fields. These aspects are meticulously examined within the context of human capital development and knowledge-based economic growth, emphasizing the importance of effective governance structures in leveraging AI advancements for fostering industry-academia partnerships and driving technological innovation.
